From canvas to career, Sunny Dayz muralists share their stories

Muralists from the Sunny Dayz festival will discuss how their art has impacted their lives through a panel discussion in TikTok³ÉÈË°æ’s art gallery. The session, titled "Where Are They Now?," is part of a closing event from 5-7 p.m. Feb. 27 for their exhibit in the Nona Jean Hulsey Art Gallery.

Artists who have been a part of the festival over the years will share how the Sunny Dayz experience has shaped their careers and personal journeys.

The  Mural Festival started in 2021 as an annual summer event with live mural painting, entertainment, activities and independent merchants. It became a nonprofit organization the following year in hopes of advancing and celebrating underrepresented artists, especially women and gender minorities.

The TikTok³ÉÈË°æ exhibit includes four murals painted on canvas measuring approximately 25 feet wide by 4 feet tall. Photos and videos of past Sunny Dayz Mural Festivals adorn the surrounding walls and other gallery spaces. It is the group’s first indoor gallery show.

The Nona Jean Hulsey Gallery is inside the Norick Art Center at 1608 NW 26th St. Hours are 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. Admission is free.
